Description
This course introduces students to a large number of Scheduling Techniques. The course uses information from PMBOK® Guide-based and PRINCE2® but does not go in depth into these standards.
The course starts with identifying the Scheduling process. Following the process is a first step in obtaining qualitative, dynamic schedules. Using the Scheduling process, the Schedule a schedule is built. During the course the schedule of a case story is built, for in-company sessions, it is however also possible to base the course on company specific schedules.
In a second step, the Schedule is optimized. Different techniques for optimization are discussed such as PERT and CPM. Using Monte-Carlo simulation, the probability of schedule overruns is further quantified and if necessary, cost and time reserves are built in.
Finally the Schedule is used in the Project. Throughout the project the schedule must be adapted regularly to reflect as good as possible the reality of the project. Tecniques on how to integrate changes, change milestones etc. are discussed and demonstrated.
The course is not a hands-on course ! for demonstration purposes, MS-Project or OpenWorkbench are used
