Our Events fall into two classes namely, Executive Briefings and Know How Seminars both of which are free.

What is a Know-How Seminar

Pronohau Seminars represent free seminars that are held on the third Thursday of every month in a selected hotel. The sessions are open to everyone and normally consist of a 1 hour presentation and 30 minutes of questions and answers. After the session individuals may choose to have a 1-1 session with the speaker. Free refreshments are provided at the end of the session.

The key note presentations are delivered by either Senior Pronohau Consultants or invited industry recognised, thought and opinion leaders. The presentations focus on experiences, lessons learnt, loop holes to avoid, what works and what does not work, discussions on current issues that face the local markets with suggested approaches to resolution etc. Attendees may request or suggest future topics at the end of each session.

  • The Software Engineering Institute created the "Software Capability Maturity Model" or "CMM" in the eighties to respond to the need to be able to deliver more reliable software products. The structure made this a very successful model in guiding and improving processes (work practices). The success was such that many imitations were made on a number of different topics and the model was upgraded several years ago to "CMMI-DEV" or Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development. This tool was usable by more than just software companies; in fact it was applicable to any organization performing engineering work in a project-based organization. Today, the world has changed and the possibilities created by global communications have allowed engineering companies to become more and more focused on outsourcing and integration. Companies no longer seek to develop their products, but understand the needs of their customers sufficiently to be able to get appropriate sections developed by specialist organizations throughout the world. The results have not always been satisfactory. The SEI has now produced a new model "CMMI-ACQ" or CMMI for Acquisition. The focus is to ensure that the outsourcing organizations will be able to use the same level of rigour in order manage the products they are outsourcing and ensure the quality of the work being performed throughout the product's lifecycle. This product can be used on its own or in combination with CMMI-DEV. But is this what is needed? What problems are being solved by this new product? Peter Leeson, who is one of the few people who has been authorized by the SEI to deliver formal training and appraisals using both existing CMMI models, will be providing answers to these questions.
